No release, weekly updates, and 🔥 tip

Laravel

No release so far this week. Last week the release happened Wednesday, instead of Tuesday. So it may still happen later today. However, given everything in last week's release and all its patch releases, my guess is the team is letting things simmer.

Weekly Journal

Last week I had a bunch of meetings. It was way more than usual given the Human Shifts, a bit of client work, and all the pairing on the various side-projects.

I started this week off tweaking Shift. This was based on 21 support emails that had piled up over the last month. To save a bit of time, I leave these unread to prompt me to take action. Once the number becomes large, say 7 or so, I'll work on them. Most importantly this improves Shift, but it also gets me to inbox zero.

Today I'll livestream a few shorthands for Laravel's Process facade. These came to mind after refactoring Shift to use the Process facade in last week's stream.

The rest of the week is more meetings to pair with Caen and JT on our side-projects.

🔥 Tip

A shameless plug - read BaseCode.

In fairness, it's a free ebook. This book contains 10 rules for writing readable code. It's a distillation of practices from the books I've read during my 25 years of programming. You can get through it in a weekend and I guarantee practicing even a few of these will make you a better programmer.
