Weekly Journal

All PRs I submitted for the Mockery to Double conversion have been merged. So, I'm shooting my shot at submitting one to laravel/framework. This only converts the test suite. It does not convert the underlying Facade testing layer. While Double's API is very close to Mockery, it is not exact. So that conversion will have "breaking changes" and need to target 14.x.

Emma was off last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So I did not have as much screen time the rest of the week. I did continue work on the Shift + AI tasks. All of the Laravel upgrade Shifts (5.0 to 13.x) now have AI prompts for all actionable PR comments, as well as an optional add-on for Shift's built-in AI review.

This week I'm traveling. But during the commute I'm working on a redesign of the laravelshift.com home page to better relay the AI integrations.

Weekly Tip

Last week was the first time I used the latest model (Opus 5.5). However, I was burning through my token limits. So I bumped down to the "more efficient" model (Sonnet 5.5). I didn't see much difference in quality. However, I saw a huge reduction in tokens.

I know people are burning through big tasks on the socials. But I've never had much need to use a frontier model at the highest effort. Maybe on a redesign or if I'm researching a stock. Rarely for code.
